Why not visit the local villages, like Zeanuri, Otxandio, Zuia, Dima, Legutio, Ubidea or Artea? They all have a range of cultural or culinary attractions to satisfy the most demanding of tastes. Urdaibai, Biosphere Reserve (40 km to the north), one of Europe’s most important reserves for migratory birds with some fine old Basque towns and villages like Guernica or Bermeo. The area also boasts some of the best beaches on Spain’s northern coast.

Vitoria (25 km to the south), offering ice-skating, an international jazz festival, art and good shopping.
